Abstract
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are the main cause of hypersensitivity reactions to drugs, with NSAID-induced urticaria/angioedema (NIUA) being the most frequent clinical entity. NIUA has long been associated with Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (DP) sensitization by different authors; however, further studies explaining such association are needed. As both NSAID-hypersensitivity and atopic diseases are modelled by genetic factors, and taking into account the role of IL4/IL13 and their receptors in atopy, we have carried out a genetic association study in NIUA focusing on these genes.
