Abstract

One year ago, the Association of American Colleges & Universities published a report entitled Greater Expectations: A New Vision for Learning as a Nation Goes to College. This ambitious report offers a[nother] clarion call for postsecondary reform with a particular eye towards what might be called "education that lasts" and "education that matters." In short, the AAC&U's report challenges colleges and universities to redouble their efforts to offer educational programs that have intellectual substance and vitality and, at the same time, equip students to engage significant and complex issues of life with thoughtfulness, integrity, and passion.
