Abstract

The aim of this article is to outline the overall Danish legal framework for the regulation of assisted reproductive technologies in order to discuss how and why this particular regulation came about. The article relies on Bills, parliamentary debate as the Bills passed through the 3 readings in Parliament, the adopted Acts, as well as preparatory documents such as public consultation responses, parliamentary questions, reports of the parliamentary health committee and reports by the Danish Council of Ethics (tasked specifically to advise Parliament on ARTs). The documents have been located using electronic and manual searches. A number of non-electronically and nonpublicly available files have made available to me courtesy of the Library of the Danish Parliament.
