Abstract

Background and Significance: Ectopic pregnancies can occur after IVF-ET from direct injection or migration of embryos into the fallopian tube. Embryos that have undergone AH have been reported to implant earlier compared to non-hatched embryos. (Liu et al. Fertil Steril 1993) Thus, theoretically, AH could potentially increase the occurrence of ectopic pregnancies by enhancing early implantation at a time when embryos that have reached the fallopian tube have not had a chance to return to the uterus.
