Abstract

The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 1990 created a system for the regulation of fertility treatment and assisted conception techniques. The process is overseen by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) whose functions are license treatment, research and storage of gametes and embryos and to ensure compliance with the requirements of the 1990 Act.
