Abstract

Assistant Practitioners (APs) were introduced into the radiography profession as part of the four tier structure (College of Radiographers, 2003) to address issues with retention and recruitment of staff. APs work within protocols under the supervision of qualified radiographers; providing care to patients and undertaking a wide range of procedures. This article outlines opportunities available to a wider population as a result of a series of government and professional body initiatives within the diverse profession of radiography.
