Abstract

The drug of choice in the treatment of adrenal cortical carcinoma is mitotane (o,p'-DDD). The two geometric isomers obtained on dehydrochlorination of mitotane were separated for the first time and characterized. Analysis of the NMR spectra and the results of dipole moment measurements conclusively prove that the assignment of configuration of these compounds in the literature is incorrect. These compounds may be metabolites of mitotane.
