Abstract

The study area is located in the central part of Iraq in Wasit Governorate. In this study, an attempt was made to eliminate the validity of Al-Dujaila Channel Project water for human consumption by using the National Sanitation Foundation Water Quality index (NSFWQI). Where water quality for human consumption was found to range from poor to medium. The values of sodium percentage ratio for two periods range between 28-34.4, with respect to the RSC value Almost 100% of the samples indication negative values, which indicated that dissolved Ca2+ and Mg2+ concentrations were higher than HCO3- content. However, all samples are safe for irrigation purposes where the RSC values were less than 1 meq/l, According to Killy ratio all the samples are save for irrigation.
