Abstract

Tributyltin (TBT) was determined in seawater and sediment samples were collected from four coastal stations in Bahrain using AAS technique. Samples were collected in and around marinas. The TBT in seawater from all sampling points ranges from 2.29–17.88 μg l −1 with a mean of 5.97 μg l −1. In sediments it ranges from 128–1930 ng g −1 with a mean of 732 ng g −1. At the source itself, TBT in water ranges from 3.42–8.35 μg l −1 with 5.40 μg l −1 mean. In sediment it ranges from 352–1330 ng g −1 with a mean of 636 ng g −1. It was observed that the variation in the level of TBT between the source and different distances from it was negligible.
