Abstract

Treated sewage wastewater is a possible alternative water source for increasing the water supply to the agricultural industry of the Republic of Crimea. However, their use, according to the results of research by domestic and foreign scientists, is constrained by a combination of a number of factors that need to be taken into account and analyzed before implementing this direction. The purpose of the work is to assess the possibility of using treated wastewater for irrigation purposes in the Republic of Crimea in modern conditions. The main source of this water category is large sewage treatment plants (STP) serving the cities of Alushta, Dzhankoy, Yevpatoria, Kerch, Saki, Simferopol, Sudak, Feodosia, Yalta. They account for about 80% of the volume of wastewater, discharged into surface water bodies annually. Based on the salt composition of the treated wastewater, the most promising alternative water sources for irrigation purposes are the STP “Ukromnoye”.
