Abstract

In this paper, the field distribution induced inside the brain during transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is thoroughly investigated in terms of two different head models as well as different conductivities of brain components. A new stimulator, adopting a conductive shield plate between a figure-of-eight (FOE) coil and the head, is simulated in the presence of each realistic head model and shows better field localization than the conventional FOE coil
