Abstract

The article contains the material of a study on echinococcosis of wild carnivorous and ungulate animals on the territory of Yakutia. Yakutia is home to a sufficient number of wild carnivorous and ungulate animals that are infected with the sexually mature and larval stages of the very dangerous Echinococcus granulosus cestode. In the wild, Echinococcus circulation occurs among wild carnivores and ungulates, mainly circulates between wolf and moose. There is a risk of transmission of Echinococcus granulosus to humans. Intermediate owners can be livestock, horses and people. A person becomes infected by processing the skins of carnivores hunted or by contact with hunting dogs infected with Echinococcus, there may also be cases of infection by ingestion of echinococcal oncospheres when eating wild berries and herbs contaminated with feces of carnivorous animals, but humans do not participate in the transmission of infection to the final hosts. The study shows an increase in the number of populations of wolves, foxes and their significant infection with the sexually mature stage of Echinococcus granulosus. The control of the natural reservoir of Echinococcus granulosus is very difficult due to the wide range of susceptible animals, the vastness of the territory.
