Abstract
The article presents an assessment of the mechanism for managing the socio-economic development of East Kazakhstan and its regions. It analyzes the main indicators of regional development. Also, it identifies the main problems in the industry and makes a SWOT analysis of the state of development of the industry. The authors note that the key problem in achieving this goal is the disproportionality in the level of development of individual entities and in the presence of territorial entities with a special problematic status with depressed areas in the regions that require more attention. In solving these problems, it is necessary, according to the authors, to ensure the innovative development of depressed territories by modernizing industries based on the introduction of advanced technology and technology, ensuring the accelerated development of science-intensive industries, increasing the share of innovative products in the total volume of industrial production.
