Abstract

The specific scope of work for this effort followed this sequence: review of the Fire Weather Library for stations with usable records; development of statistical summaries for selected individual stations; screen summaries for common windy areas; develop statistical comparisons of fire weather stations with nonfire weather stations having multiple observations per day; develop frequency spectra of wind periods above threshold values; and estimate seasonal and geographic distributions of wind energy. Following discussions with the PNL, efforts for objective four, the comparison of one observation per day to multiple observations for the same station, were deferred until the results from a similar study at Northwestern University were available.
