Abstract

Assessment of Technogenic Loading on the Surface Water Bodies of the Separate Regions of the North-Western Black Sea

Highlights

The main reason for the deterioration of the surface water in the regions of Ukraine is their pollution due to the discharge of large quantities of wastewater
According to the method of the assessment of land surface water quality based on the hydrochemical parameters (Safranov et al, 2015), the water quality is determined through a complex indicator called a combinatorial pollution index (CPI): nn CCCCCC = ∑ SSii ii=1 where: Si is a total score obtained by multiplying a rate of repeatability of cases of the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) excess and a rate of multiplicity of the MPC excess
The analysis of the given figures shows that according to the fishery standards, the permanent exceedances of the MPC for the content of such indicators as biochemical oxygen consumption for 5 days (BOC5), mineralization, chlorides, sulfates, iron, copper, magnesium, phosphates are observed during the period of studies

Introduction

The main reason for the deterioration of the surface water in the regions of Ukraine is their pollution due to the discharge of large quantities of wastewater. A number of studies are devoted to exploring the effective methods of sewage and surface water treatment from concentrated organic pollution (Malovanyy et al, 2019), heavy metals (Melnyk et al, 2015), ammonia (Malovanyy et al, 2018), petroleum (Zelenko et al, 2019) and biological pollution (Nykyforov V. et al, 2016). This problem is especially acute in the low-water Mykolaiv region. The situation in the region is greatly complicated by a lack of quality household and industrial wastewater treatment. The use of artificial water bodies in the region is carried out to meet the needs of energy, drinking water supply, irrigation and household needs (Regional report..., 2019)
