Abstract
Various factors affecting soil erosion were calculated, and the distribution map of soil erosion in Suihua in 2004 is obtained based on revised universal soil loss equation ( RUSLE ) and GIS technology and soil erosion of different land use types and different counties was analyzed, respectively. Results show that soil erosion in Suihua City mainly belongs to slight erosion, with an area of 16,083.9 km 2 , accounting for 46.34% of the total area; the area of moderate erosion is 1,583.52 km 2 , accounting for 4.56%. The erosion above moderate degree distributes in the river terrace along the rivers and transition zone with the washland. The area of soil erosion in Lanxi County and Qinggang County are the largest, and Wangkui County, Beilin District and Hailun City have the largest soil erosion above moderate degree. Soil erosion in dry farmland is the most serious with the largest area, soil erosion above moderate degree occurs in the unutilized land, and forest and grassland are subject to slight erosion.
