Abstract

Of late, Mueller polarimetry has been investigated as an effective technique for analyzing the tissue optical properties, leading to the differentiation of its normal and malignant variations. Depolarization index, a parameter derived from this technique has been observed to be strongly associated with the scattering properties of the tissue. The work carried out in this study aims to investigate the sensitivity of the depolarization index, to changes in subsurface optical scattering present in optical bilayered tissue models, mimicking the conditions of skin fibrosis.
