Abstract

:Objective To assessright ventricular(RV)regional systolic function in patients with tetralogy ofFallot(TOF)by ultrasound speckle tracking imaging(STI).Methods Longitudinal peak systolicvelocity(V), strain(e),strain rate(SRs)were measured in RV free wall andinterventricular septum(IVS)for basal, mid and apical segment in 38 patients with TOF and35 healthy controls by STI from the apical 4-chamber view and compared betweengroups. Results Compared with controls, eand SRs of RVfree wall and IVS for all segments were significantly impaired in patients withTOF(P 0.05 for all).Inpatients with TOF and controls.V,eand SRs of RV free walI for all segments were higher thanthose of IVS except SRs of RV apical segment. Conclusions RV systolic function in patientswith TOF was decreased, RV longitudinal systolic function is accurately and objectivelystudied by STI.
