Currently existing corporate information systems have a large amount of software, which is growing at a fast pace. The main consumers of infor mation systems are objects of the oil industry, which plays a special role in economy of Russia. The global market of oil refining software for 2017 was estimated at $ 3.1 billion. It is predicted that in the coming years the market will grow much faster than in the period 2009 - 2017, by almost 20 % per year, and by 2024 will reach a volume of 14.7 billion dollars. Environmental pollution occurs during accidents on the oil pipeline, in pipelines and during operation of the equipment in excess of the standard period. The article presents an assessment of the life cycle of the software devel- oped by the authors for the oil industry in accordance with the relevant standards of the groups: IEEE, ISO, EIA and IEC. The main errors in the software developed by the authors used in the oil industry are considered. In the first and second software revealed a minor error, which is reflected in a marked decrease in the efficiency of the software, but does not lead to a failure in it. The third software revealed a significant error, which reduces the effectiveness of its work, or stops the functioning of the software without noticeable damage to the system.
