Abstract

This article provides an overview of five multi-scale instruments assessing personality and psychopathology meeting standards for use in clinical practice. This includes the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory -2 – Restructured Form (MMPI-2-RF; Ben-Porath and Tellegen, 2011; Tellegen and Ben-Porath, 2011), Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-3 (MMPI-3; Ben-Porath and Tellgen, 2020a, 2020b), Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI; Morey, 1991), Millon Multiaxial Clinical Inventory-IV (MCMI-IV; Millon et al., 2015), and NEO-Personality Inventory-3 (NEO-PI-3; McCrae and Costa, 2010). Cautions related to the use of multi-scale inventories and directions for future research are also discussed.
