Abstract

Several methods of achieving cooling in buildings in hot climates have been developed in recent years. One such method, roof sack-cloth cooling, relies on maintaining a thin film of water on the roof. In the present article, a method of assessing the suitability of a given climatic condition for natural cooling is presented. This method is then applied to predict the performance of a roof sack-cloth cooling technique to certain hot-dry and hot-humid locations in India.
