Abstract

The paper is focused on assessment of stress-strain response of the material of notched components subjected to extreme loading regimes that cause extensive plastic deformations and general yielding. The modification of the Neuber method that allows one to predict maximum local stresses and strains of the notched component when the nominal stress exceeds the yield strength of the material is presented. The influence of the strain hardening exponent on the stress-strain elastoplastic response of the material at the notch zone is assessed.
