Abstract

30Dec 2017 ASSESSMENT OF INSULIN RESISTANCE INDEX (HOMA-IR) AND LIPID PROFILE AMONG SUDANESE WOMEN WITH GALLSTONES. Nisreen Abdalmuty Abdalrahman and Amar Mohamed Ismail. Department of Clinical Chemistry, Faculty of Medical Laboratory Science, University of AL-Neelain-Sudan. Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Faculty of Science and Technology, University of AL-Neelain -Sudan.

Highlights

  • Insulin resistance (IR)) and lipid profile level in Sudanese gallstones (GSs) patients and their association with study variables

  • Homeostasis Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR), TC, LDL-C and TG level were significantly increased in Sudanese women with GS than control group p=0.000, 0.000, 0.000 and 0.000 respectively

  • Dot blot regression analyses showed that, HOMA-IR positively correlate with TC (R= 0.437, P= 0.001), LDL-C (R= 0.419, P= 0.001) while no correlation was observed with TG (R= 0.206 P= 0.067)

Summary

Introduction

The aim of this study was to assess insulin resistance index IR) and lipid profile level in Sudanese gallstones (GSs) patients and their association with study variables. In case control study 80 clinically diagnosed GSs patients were recruited, and 80 apparently health age matched women as control group. HOMA-IR, TC, LDL-C and TG level were significantly increased in Sudanese women with GS than control group p=0.000, 0.000, 0.000 and 0.000 respectively.
