Hexachlorobenzene (HCB), α‐HCH, s‐HCH, p,p'‐DDE, p,p'‐DDT were found in all samples, p,p'—DDD and y‐HCH were present in 92 percent each of the total samples analysed. Mean levels of HCB, total HCH and total DDT were 0.109, 0.322 and 1.561 mg L−1, respectively on whole milk basis. The average daily intake of organochlorine pesticides (OCP) calculated for the suckling infant was significantly higher in this study when compared with the levels recommended by the WHO.
