Abstract

An attempt to project the future urban climate in the summer (a month of June) of the 2030s in Vinh City, Vietnam, using a regional atmospheric model, the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model, is introduced in this chapter. A city master plan for Vinh City proposed by a Japanese civil engineering consulting company, Nikken Sekkei Civil Engineering Ltd., is incorporated into the future projections. The proposed city master plan targets the year 2030, with a population of 900,000, and the total planning area covers approximately 250 km2. Particularly, in the future projections, the effects of future global warming and introducing the proposed city master plan on the urban climate in Vinh City are quantitatively discussed. Moreover, the impacts of concentrating and decentralizing urban districts in the city master plan on the urban climate are numerically clarified.
