Abstract

Exposure rate measurements in the city of Baghdad were initiated in June 1981. The average exposure rate, the average annual effective dose equivalent and the collective effective dose equivalent are assessed. The data are presented according to the eleven municipal divisions of the city. The average exposure rate was 6.9 μR h−1 and an average annual effective dose equivalent of 4.5 × 10−4 Sv year−1. The collective effective dose equivalent is 1.81 × 103 man Sv year−1.
