Abstract

Maintaining the balance between work and family life is an important and emerging challenge for both employees and employers. In the present competitive world, software organizations are filled with conflicting commitment and responsibilities. This has made work life balance a challenging issue for the executives in the software industry. The present study tries to assess the role of variables at work and family in determining work life balance. This paper studies different factors causing work and life imbalance with respect to software professionals in Bangalore city. A total of 300 employees are included for this study and the gathered data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation and regression analyses. The extent of the work to family and family to work conflicts determining the work life imbalance and the conciliatory role of the family support and the work support to the work life imbalance presents curious inputs to the study of work life balance.
