Abstract

This paper considers the influence of the temporal characteristics of varying noise levels, such as aircraft noise, on noise assessment. It is concluded that corrections to account for subjective response to temporal characteristics may be carried out in a simple and effective manner and that a corrected form of the equivalent noise level is the appropriate measure to employ for land use planning.
