Abstract
This paper addresses the evaluation of the social services component of Head Start by looking at the role of the family service worker: Focus groups were conducted with three sets of family service workers. Three domains for further evaluation emerged, including characteristics of the family service worker; setting characteristics of the Head Start program, and job characteristics of the family service worker. Instruments for further data evaluation were presented.
