Abstract

ABSTRACT The ability of companies to adapt in a short time to adverse situations is related to their resilience. This study aims to assess the resilience of companies listed in the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE) during the COVID-19 pandemic through a multistage approach, identifying as a proxy the stock price of their securities compared to the market trend. Testing the behavior of companies during phases of resilience (resistance, recovery, transformation) according to the evolution of the benchmark index of the BSE, and by applying the slope function and factor analysis methods, this paper shows that, in periods of crisis, the behavior of the financial market is different from normal periods.
