Abstract

This study aims to investigate the factor structure of Tromso Social Intelligence Scale (TSIS) in Indian cultural context. This study also intends to explore how the factor structure of the TSIS in India differs from the one in the west. The analysis is based on data collected from 100 employees of business organizations in India using survey questionnaire. The findings show that factor structure of TSIS differs from the original scale developed in Norway. The results of factor structure reveal a four factor structure in Indian context against the three factor structure of the original scale. It establishes that the factor structure of Tromso social intelligence scale is different in Indian context as com- pared to the original scale developed in the western cultural context. Findings of this study will be beneficial to researchers who intend to conduct research on social intelligence in India. A cross cultural investigation to assess structure of Social Intelligence scale may have implications for leadership, communication, interpersonal relations and team cohesiveness. It is first of the few studies that explore the factor structure of social intelligence scale in Indian context.
