Abstract

This paper presents a methodology for the assessment of the effects of changes in the cost of higher education to the student on student enrollment. After the significant sources of student funds have been identified, a procedure is presented for expressing the total “expected contribution” from students as a transformed lognormal distribution of their parents' income. The procedure and its implications are illustrated with actual data from the public system of higher education in Texas.
