Abstract
Gentlepersons: We were delighted to learn that FUDGE has chosen to start a major new program of research and development on the teaching of the social sciences. We think you are wise to spend some time analyzing what you research priorities should be, and we appreciate the opportunity to offer our advice. We will confine our remarks to the broad subarea which you have designated as Learning Beyond the Classroom.
