Abstract

This article discusses the court system, pattern jury instructions, statutes, and case law relevant to the practice of forensic economics in the areas of personal injury and wrongful death in the state of South Dakota. This article is organized as follows. Section II presents the state court system in South Dakota. Section III discusses issues of expert testimony and data and Section IV presents the South Dakota Pattern Jury instructions relevant to the forensic economist. Section V examines South Dakota statute law and Section VI discusses special issues. Section VII addresses practice issues in South Dakota Courts.
