Abstract
AbstractThe art book collection at the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) Library was recently analyzed using a mix of collection-based and use-based criteria. The OCLC WorldCat Collection Assessment service was employed for collecting and analyzing statistical data. Through peer-group comparisons, the HKBU collecting patterns, subject strengths, and collection weaknesses were identified. The faculty who served as evaluators assigned a numeric value to assess each subject in the current collection and the desired level of acquisitions. The author outlines the evaluation process, findings about the collection, and issues involved. The article illustrates the limitations in the predefined conspectus for a subject which is interdisciplinary.
