Abstract
ABSTRACT When students in content area classrooms experience reading problems it is quite often a reflection of low interest. To the extent that teachers can inspire a commitment or emotional stake (Vacca & Vacca, 1993) in students toward text materials they up the likelihood that students will succeed in reading to learn. Searching for ways to ignite student interest and motivation is the business of affective domain assessment.
