Abstract
Assertion training is one of cognitive–behavioral psychological methods to deal with mental disorders with psychosomatic diseases. Assertion training represented a prototype for developing social skills of coping with stressful situations. Psychologically, we diagnosed a case as unassertive from the symptoms classified into 4 components, (i) cognitive, (ii) behavioral, (iii) emotional, and (iv) physiological. Recently in Japan, assertion training has been effectively applied to prevent and alleviate the cases of mental disorders with PSD. To show the effectiveness of assertion training in treating PSD, we demonstrated the mechanisms of how the assertion training works adopting four cases: dysthmic disorder with IBS, social anxiety disorder with hypertension, night terror with asthma, and adjustment disorder with hypertension.
