Abstract

Assembly drawings are used to represent components within the assembly in an exploded view. They show how individual components fit together, quantity of individual components within the assembly. Additionally, indexed annotations may also contain orthogonal views with sections. It is important to note that the assembly drawings should not duplicate the information that has already been reported such as component's individual drawing. One may hear assembly drawings referred to as overall assembly drawing, outline assembly drawing, exterior shape, diagrammatic assembly drawings, etc., but they all mean the assembly drawing with its individual components, broken down to quantities, indexes, and other necessary informational material. In this chapter, the authors guide the readers step-by-step to finish the drawing of the swinging link assembly, including how to set up the orientation and component positions of the exploded view.
