Abstract

A highly efficient, green, and reusable heterogeneous catalytic system is introduced for the preparation of aryl-14-H-dibenzo[a,j]xanthenes via one-pot condensation of β-naphthol with aryl-aldehydes by the mediation of a heterogeneous material composed of Keggin-type tungsto-divanado-phosphoric acid, H5PW10V2O40, supported on MCM-48 under solvent-free condition. Excellent yields (85–100%), short reaction time (<60 min.), mild condition, simple work-up, and using a cheap and environmentally friendly catalyst bearing remarkable reusability are advantages of the present methodology. The catalytic efficacy of H5PW10V2O40/MCM-48 over some reported protocols are also overviewed.
