Abstract

A rare case of pulmonary aspergillosis was documented in a Himalayan griffon vulture with characteristic gross and histopathological lesions in lung and air sacs. Gross changes were observed in lungs and air sacs with yellowish white nodules of 0.5–3mm in diameter including thickening of air sacs. Histopathologically, multifocal caseous necrotic areas, inflammatory cellular infiltrations, presence of fungal hyphae and fibrous tissue proliferation in lungs and air sacs were observed. The characteristic hyphae of Aspergillus spp. were demonstrated in the nodules of lung in histopathological sections stained by Gridley's and H & E staining method.
