Abstract

Controlled medical terminologies play a central role in medical information systems which allows sharing of information. Development of community health information networks raises the issue of semantic interoperability between distributed and heterogeneous systems. The main objective of this paper is to analyse semantic interoperability from the point of view of the health care process representations. The underlying conceptual representations need to address the requirements of their intended users.
