Abstract

The paper present aspects regarding the monitoring of railway infrastructures and the power supply of electric traction. Introduction of the monitoring and diagnosis in the railway infrastructure has become one of the most important tasks for the safety of railway transport. The development of new monitoring technologies allows to identify the technical condition of the infrastructure and of electrical equipment in the power supply system. This can be accomplished through a continuous monitoring of the infrastructure and electrical equipment in the power traction system considered important such as: bridges, tunnels, railway tracks, railway foundations, electric traction substations, contact line, return circuit etc.. In the case study is presented the monitoring of an electrical equipment from the power supply system of electric traction from return circuit, namely joint coil.
