Abstract
We discuss a few generic properties of wormhole space‐times, with particular emphasis on the construction of spherical R2×S2 wormholes. We show that such wormholes can be constructed from solutions of an effective initial value problems with the throat serving as an initial value surface. We also briefly discuss some open problems related to wormholes.
