Abstract
AbstractSome packages require additional equipment components during transport, e.g. a transport frame. For some of these packages, there have been discussions about whether this additional equipment has to be considered during the approval of the package design. TS-R-1 paragraphs 230 and 611 and TS-G-1·1 paragraphs 230·2–230·5 describe provisions and guidelines on how to decide which requirements have to be applied to the additional equipment. There are cases in which the equipment should be considered as part of the package and be included in the safety demonstration for the package. On the other hand, there are devices that should be treated as a part of the conveyance. Furthermore, paragraph 611 of TS-R-1 considers the treatment of external parts added to the package during transport. The way in which inner design components are treated in the safety assessment of the package is also a matter for discussion.
