Abstract

A process for carrying out primary support design for tunnels in the Sydney Basin is presented which involves estimation of the proportion of tunnel having typical, adverse and special conditions. Separate designs are prepared and the appropriate design is adopted for conditions encountered during construction. Two analytical methods for rock bolt design are described. Examples of the application the methods are presented (A).
