Abstract
The application of optimal experimental design theory to models for dynamic systems is surveyed. Preliminary sections briefly discuss the models used and the main points of statistical optimal design theory. Then the ways in which the latter carry over to dynamic models are described. These applications are split roughly into those involving choice of input functions and those in which sampling rates also are selected.
