Abstract

The relevance of the research lies in determining the role of information technologies in the development of intellectual competence of future specialists/students in the field of natural sciences. A wide range of questions about the forming of intellectual competence of future specialists in the field of natural sciences in the era of information technologies is quite relevant, firstly, this is required by the rapid development of information technologies in which future specialists in the field of natural sciences will work; secondly, the dependence between a high level of development of intellectual competence and the ability to effectively solve problems of various levels of complexity, readiness to solve professional tasks is traced; thirdly, higher school teachers faced a new task, using distance learning methods, using the latest information technologies to ensure a high level of competence development of the younger generation. The aim of the research is to reveal the essence of the concept of «intellectual competence» and the formation of intellectual competence of natural science students in the era of information technologies, to identify aspects of the application of information technologies in the process of developing intellectual competence. The scientific methods of analysis, synthesis, observation, description and comparison were apllied to study the specifics of the development of intellectual competence of future specialists in the field of natural sciences. It has been established that the use of information technologies in the modern educational space allows for self-development and improvement of the level of knowledge, but a number of methodological questions remain as to whether this is sufficient for the effective formation of the intellectual competence of modern students, future specialists in the field of natural sciences.
