Abstract

Discrete Fourier transform (DFT) and inverse DFT are the key elements in the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmitter and receiver blocks, to represent changing signals in time and frequency domain. Fast Fourier transform (FFT), due to its high efficiency of computation over DFT, is currently used for many high-speed and real-time applications in both wireless and communication fields. In this paper, an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) of 4k-point decimation in time (DIT) radix-2 FFT using fixed-point arithmetic has been designed. Finally, ASIC design results of various stages involved regarding area, timing and power consumption are presented.
