Abstract

Suicide rates in Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) youth have been rising in recent years. There are many factors that may be contributing to this phenomenon. Clinicians need to be aware of and understand the specific factors that may influence AAPI youth suicide and self-injurious behavior so that culturally sensitive and targeted interventions may be offered. This presentation will illustrate a case of an Asian American adolescent presenting with suicidal behavior and multiple suicide attempts.
