Abstract

The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) entered into a cross-border agreement on December 6, 2004, with the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists (CSHP) and the Mexican Association of Hospital Pharmacists (MAHP) to improve the quality of care by advancing hospital pharmacy practice. The collaboration, known as the North American Compact on the Advancement of Hospital Pharmacy, “signals a commitment from our three associations to work together to better hospital pharmacists and hospital pharmacy practice,” said CSHP President Emily Lap Sum Musing, executive director of pharmacy services for the University Health Network of Toronto. Musing joined ASHP President T. Mark Woods and MAHP President Fela Viso Gurovich at a historic signing ceremony at the Society’s 39th Annual Mid-year Clinical Meeting in Orlando, Florida. To commemorate the event, Gurovich presented Woods and Musing with official government-issued copies of Farmacopea Herbolaria De Los Estados Unidos Mexicanos, a Mexican pharmacopoeia of traditional herbal medicines.
